Kobs, Lillian (Marriage - 1 Aug. 1940)
Miss Lillian Kobs of Chicago, Illinois, formerly of Curtiss, Wisconsin, and David Caldwell of Chicago were united in marriage at the Bethany Lutheran church in Chicago in a ceremony performed by the Rev. Karl Scherf at 1:00 o’clock on Thursday, Aug. 1.
The bride is a daughter of Mrs. Gusta Kobs of Waukesha who made her home at Curtiss until a year ago. She wore a two-piece powder blue dress with matching accessories and carried a bouquet of orchids and lilies of the valley.
Mrs. Nels Granholm, a sister, matron of honor, was dressed in beige and brown with accessories to match. She carried a bouquet of tea roses. Nels Granholm was best man.
A wedding dinner was served at the home of the bride’s sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Zimmermann at Waukesha, to the bridal party and immediate relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Caldwell left at once for Lumber City, Pennsylvania, where the groom’s parents reside. On their return to Chicago they left for Curtiss, accompanied by the bride’s mother, Mrs. Gusta Kobs, and aunt, Mrs. Lena Zeiger of Milwaukee, and Mr. and Mrs. Nels Granholm. While here they were guests at the Ray Kobs home, a brother of the bride. The party left for Chicago on Friday where the couple will make their home.
